Compatibility guide

Introduction

Oodrive products run in different environments – from Windows to MacOS, Android to iOS, Internet Explorer to Firefox, and not forgetting Chrome and Safari. Every single one of these environments has a number of versions, each subject to one of many different support policies by their respective publishers.

Given that so many publishers already have their own support policies, Oodrive has made the decision to publish its own support policy, in line with other major software vendors.

Operating systems

Windows

Oodrive software will be supported by Microsoft operating systems for as long as Microsoft provides mainstream support for them (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/lifecycle).

However, customers can purchase extended support from Oodrive, which will extend the period for which a certain version of Windows will support Oodrive software. This period will expire as soon as Microsoft discontinues extended support for that version.

MacOS and iOS

Oodrive is committed to ensuring its products are supported by the latest and most recent previous versions of MacOS and iOS, as well as the second most recent previous version for six months after the latest version is released, after which time only the latest and most recent previous versions will support Oodrive products.

Android

Oodrive is committed to ensuring its products are supported by the latest and most recent previous versions of Android, as well as the second most recent previous version for six months after the latest version is released, after which time only the latest and most recent previous versions will support Oodrive products.

Browsers

Internet Explorer

Oodrive will ensure that its software will be supported by Internet Explorer for as long as Microsoft supports the browser version and the operating system (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2014/08/07/stay-up-to-date-with-internet-explorer.aspx).
Therefore, only the latest version of Internet Explorer will support Oodrive products on a Windows operating system (see support for Windows above).

At the time of writing, Microsoft does not intend to offer extended support for its browsers, so Oodrive will not be able to offer this either.

Chrome and Firefox

As Chrome and Firefox provide updates automatically, Oodrive products are only supported by the latest and most recent previous versions of these browsers.

Safari

Like Internet Explorer and Windows, Oodrive products are only supported by the latest version of Safari on an Apple operating system (see support for MacOS and iOS above).

Other software

JRE (for Applets)

Oodrive products will be supported by JRE and JDK for the use of applets for as long as Oracle supports the operating system in question ( http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/eol-135779.html).

Outlook

Like other Microsoft products, Oodrive products will be supported by Outlook versions for as long as Microsoft supports them in their mainstream support phase, to use Microsoft terminology ( https://support.microsoft.com/fr-fr/lifecycle?p1=16648 for Microsoft Outlook 2013 for example).

Lotus

Oodrive products will be supported by Lotus versions using plugins for as long as IBM continues to support the environment in question ( http://www-01.ibm.com/software/lotus/support/lifecycle/).

Not supported

It is important to define what we actually mean by support: as an Oodrive customer, you can contact our customer service department if you have any questions, are experiencing any problems, wish to make improvements, or want to get advice. Oodrive is committed to providing you with a suitable answer as part of its SLA.

If you are experiencing any problems, Oodrive will attempt to reproduce the problem in your environment and will do its utmost to find a solution quickly, by either resolving the issue or finding a workaround.

If the problem occurs in an environment that does not support Oodrive products, Oodrive will only attempt to reproduce the problem in a similar environment that does support the product. If that is successful, Oodrive will then do its utmost to resolve the problem in that other environment.
Otherwise, Oodrive is not obligated to resolve the problem in an environment where the product is not supported. However, in such cases, Oodrive will strive to offer a workaround wherever possible.
