The Neonatal Screening Center at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is a leading institution dedicated to the early detection of congenital and metabolic diseases in newborns. Each year, nearly 50,000 newborns are tested for various childhood diseases at birth, enabling rapid and effective treatment.
Lionel Marcelis, Laboratory Manager, shares his experience with Oodrive Work and how the solution meets his needs.
Looking for an HDS-certified provider
The ULB’s neonatal screening center handles highly sensitive data, the confidentiality of which must be strictly guaranteed. One of the most delicate phases is the transmission of blood test results to the relevant maternity wards.
As Lionel Marcelis, Laboratory Manager, points out, “communication between the screening center and maternity wards is an important part of our activities.”
However, the data sharing solutions previously used proved unsatisfactory because they were “too cumbersome, too slow, and not secure enough.” Faced with these challenges, the center sought an HDS-certified provider to guarantee data security and compliance.
Securing healthcare data with Oodrive Work
To meet these needs, in October 2022 the center adopted Oodrive Work, the HDS-certified solution for sharing sensitive documents and collaborative work.
This solution, already familiar to the ULB through a partner hospital, proved to be fast and intuitive. It offers a high degree of security and availability, which is essential given that “the results are potentially vital for newborns and must be accessible to maternity wards as quickly as possible,” explains Lionel Marcelis.
