Contributing to the implementation of France’s international partnership policy, the French Development Agency (AFD) finances and supports sustainable development projects in 160 countries, with the aim of reducing inequalities and preserving common goods (climate, biodiversity, global health, etc.).

This public financial institution, founded in 1941, operates in an environment constrained by regulations governing financial and banking players (subject to the ACPR), public players (GDPR, public procurement code, etc.), and the wide diversity of its operational realities, particularly internationally.

Identifying and deploying a flexible and accessible solution that would enable employees to share sensitive information with various stakeholders was a bold challenge, especially in a context of strong growth.

Secure, on-demand sharing

In 2016, AFD decided to offer the Oodrive Work solution to its employees as a service, managed by the IT department. Employees who express a need for it can then benefit from a dedicated Oodrive Work space where they are autonomous, while still receiving support from the IT department if necessary.

The solution was quickly adopted, replacing countless email exchanges and other solutions for sharing files, some of which were very large.

“Oodrive Work is more convenient and less cluttered for the inbox than sending documents by email,” explains Pauline, who is in charge of the institutional legal department. “The documents are already classified in a tree structure, which makes it easier for clients to work with them. It also allows other people within the company to access them, instead of having to transfer the information by email.”

The ease of use and accessibility of information facilitates coordination between the often multiple parties involved. “Sharing is transparent and requires no further discussion. Fine-grained rights management is also a key factor: I sometimes give consultants and lawyers access to my Oodrive space, mainly for viewing or downloading documents only.”

“I appreciate the ease of use, traceability, control over access and access types, and the ability to copy entire tree structures using drag and drop,” says Julie, from the internal transformation department.

Today, around 40 spaces are managed independently by 60 AFD agents, and more than a hundred external users have benefited from this service in a variety of contexts.
