Matmut is a mutual insurance company specializing in insurance products for individuals and property. It also offers financial and savings services. The Matmut Group is a major player in the French insurance market. It has 6,800 employees, 4.5 million members, and manages 8.3 million insurance contracts (as of the end of December 2023).
As part of their work, Matmut Group employees are required to share documents (some of which are confidential) with external parties. The company is required to comply with the particularly stringent regulations governing the insurance sector. To meet these various needs, the Matmut Group naturally turned to Oodrive and its SecNumCloud-certified solutions.
Limiting shadow IT with a solution that meets user needs
In the space of a few years, file exchanges between Matmut Group employees and external contacts (service providers, consultants, subcontractors, etc.) have multiplied. In the absence of a dedicated solution for sharing files with external parties, employees resorted to “consumer” tools that were not authorized by the company’s security policy.
In order to limit this phenomenon of shadow IT, Cédric Chevrel, CISO of the Matmut group, wanted to set up a file sharing service that met users’ needs: ease of use, the ability to share files externally with regulators or auditors while ensuring data security and confidentiality. Oodrive Work meets all these needs, allowing both work documents and confidential documents to be shared.
Employees whose jobs require them to use Oodrive Work submit their requests to the security authorization unit.
The solution is also used to share large files (videos and images) internally as part of claims management.
Ensuring the security and confidentiality of shared data
Oodrive Work is hosted in France and operated in France. For the Matmut Group, this configuration reduces the scope of risk and gives it greater control over the hosting of its confidential data.
The ability to implement multi-factor authentication is also one of the regulatory requirements that the Matmut Group must meet. The insurance sector is one of the most regulated sectors and handles large amounts of personal data.
