To meet the file sharing and collaborative working needs of the Ministry of the Armed Forces, the Joint Directorate for Infrastructure Networks and Information Systems (DIRISI) deployed the Oodrive Work solution, developed by Oodrive, the European leader in sensitive data management.

The collaboration between Oodrive Work and DIRISI began in 2014. At that time, DIRISI was looking for a high-performance file sharing solution for its secure internal network. With the Covid crisis and the widespread adoption of remote working, this innovative tool quickly became established, with the number of licenses allocated under Oodrive Work increasing from 4,000 to 50,000 by the end of 2020.

At the beginning of this year, 150,000 additional licenses were allocated by DIRISI.

A solution to support DIRISI in its missions

The Oodrive Work solution was initially offered in early 2019 to a limited population of 1,800 people out of the more than 250,000 employed by the Ministry of the Armed Forces.

DIRISI quickly considered the possibility of extending this access and moving to a wider deployment. At the beginning of 2020, the infrastructure was ready, stabilized, and accessible to all employees. The project was named Défense Drive.

With the health crisis, Défense Drive quickly found its place. Accessible on the go, allowing all types of files to be stored and shared via a simple link, the Oodrive Work solution was quickly adopted. From 4,000 users, demand for licenses grew rapidly, reaching the 200,000 mark by the end of 2023.

Agile deployment

Oodrive Work is now fully satisfying users, who are also using it for purposes other than those initially intended. For example, field staff use it as a backup solution for photos and videos on their smartphones, while others use it to synchronize their workstation directories with Défense Drive storage.

The Défense Drive project was carried out in an agile manner and benefited from the proactive support of the Oodrive teams, who implemented a methodology to enable DIRISI to move forward with its deployment while integrating user needs.
